We’re calling it the Great Recession
The Guardian just reported online that the Great Recession is weakening in the UK. “Britain’s economy finally clawed its way out of its deepest recession since the 1930s in the fourth quarter of 2009, but it only managed to expand by a much weaker-than-expected 0.1%.”
They went on to ask how long before we are back to pre-recession levels. Here are the results of their online poll as of 6pm London time:
- 9.6% said This Year
- 15% said by 2011
- 75.5% said by 2012 or beyond
I’m with the 75.5%! This situation is going to take awhile to mend.
I feel privileged to have lived through the Gay 90′s. We were privileged, weren’t we? We lived “high on the hog,” as we say in the US and UK or “on a pig’s back,” as my Aussie friends say.
I’m relieved to have made it through the Noughties — “nothing gained”. (That’s not true. I gained wonderful, wonderful experience.)
I’ll be thrilled to pieces to live through the Great Recession. No — really. Thrilled to live that long.
But seriously now. We have an indominable business spirit. I’m certainly enthused by any talk of positive recovery indicators. We’re gonna’ make it!
